Heather Freya Abenti

About

Heather Freya Abenti EdD., is an educational psychology and communications researcher specializing in Multiple Intelligence Theory, strategic communication, student engagement, online learning environments, differentiated assessment, and education in public, non-profit, and private sectors. She recently completed her doctoral research on the use of Multiple Intelligence Theory to Inform the Practice of Differentiated Assessment to Improve Student Engagement in Online Learning Environments and successfully defended it. Her work seeks to make room in education of all types for anyone whose primary intelligence is expressed in domains other than verbal/linguistic or mathematical/logical. Beyond her primary research focus, Heather is interested in the overlap of educational psychology and communications as well as in understanding high-achieving women who are late-realized or diagnosed with ADHD or Autism Spectrum Disorder. She is passionate about using art, music, and other theoretical talents as a means to show mastery of any topic. She also seeks to make the world more user-friendly for people with illness and disability, and particularly for people who suffer life-threatening allergies to common things that many food and product companies are not required to disclose, specifically the food ingredient term "spices" which generally poses a life-threatening reaction to her and millions of people like her. Her work has been published in Language & Communication and she is currently pursuing publication of her doctoral research. Heather is committed to ongoing research in Multiple Intelligence Theory, differentiated assessment, and communication.
